GEfIL Abroad Program Reporting Session held on September 20, 2024

On Friday, September 20, 2024, the GEfIL Abroad Program Reporting Session was held at Yayoi Auditorium Ichijo Hall. This year, 86 students participated in abroad programs in 19 countries during the spring and summer.

 

The session was attended by 55 current GEfIL students and 30 attendees from 14 sponsoring companies and foundations, providing an opportunity for interaction.

 

The session began with an opening address by the Director of the Center for Global Education, Prof. Yujin Yaguchi. The first part of the reporting session featured presentations by 5 teams of 18 GEfIL students, who reported in English on their experiences in the spring and summer GEfIL abroad programs.

Germany: LMU EU Studies (Munich International Summer University)

Asia: Korea (SNU), Thailand (AUA-CU)

China, USA: UTokyo Hands-on Activities

The second part of the session included presentations by sponsoring companies. This year, the following 4 companies gave presentations:

 

Sumitomo Corporation

Nissan Motor Co., Ltd.

Nihon M&A Center Inc.

East Japan Railway Company

Each company explained their global business developments and the employees they seek as a global talent.

 

Following the presentations, there were greetings from the GEfIL Alumni Group President, Ms. Yuri Hayashi, and a closing address by Prof. Atsushi Tsuda, Executive Vice President in charge of external relations, expressing gratitude for the ongoing support from the sponsoring companies and foundations.

 

After the reporting session and presentations in the hall, a poster session was held in the foyer, where all attendees participated. Students who did not give presentation in the hall shared their experiences through 14 posters and oral explanations, actively interacting with attendees from sponsoring companies, foundations, mentor faculty, and fellow students.

 

The session concluded with a closing remark from Ms. Marina Sato, Corporate Sustainability Department of Sumitomo Corporation, representing the sponsoring companies.

 

This year, many students received scholarships supported by sponsoring companies and foundations, allowing them to participate in abroad programs that matched their individual interests and aspirations. We are deeply grateful for the support and cooperation of the sponsoring companies and foundations that make this program possible.
