About UTokyo’s Global Leadership Education Program (GLP)
The ‘Global Leadership Education Program’ (GLP) is an innovative, transdisciplinary 4-year undergraduate program launched by the University of Tokyo in April 2014. GLP is designed to equip talented UTokyo students with the global competences and skills necessary to act effectively as creative, knowledgeable, and responsible players and ‘change-makers’ on the global stage.

Target Group
The students with a strong interest in global issues, motivation to act as future innovators and team-leaders, and high level of English competence; GLP-GEfIL students are recruited once a year around summer season, for Year 2 students (non-PEAK students) and Year 1 PEAK students..Learning Outcomes
Building upon the existing strengths of UTokyo’s undergraduates in scholastic ability and high level of specialized knowledge, GLP pursues the following objectives: expand students’ communicative and academic skills in foreign languages (English as well as in their second and third foreign language/s); deepen their contextual understanding of a wide range of critical regional and global issues; enhance students’ inter-cultural awareness and competences; foster students’ creative imagination, innovative thinking, practical and teamwork skills in tackling ‘real-world’ problems, through issue-based interactive workshops and independent research projects.
