GEfIL Abroad Program Reporting Session Held with Sponsoring Companies and the Foundation
On Friday, September 26, 2025, the GEfIL Abroad Program Reporting Session was held at Ichijo Hall, Yayoi Auditorium. Thanks to the generous support of our sponsoring companies and the foundation, 47 GEfIL students were able to participate in abroad programs across 11 countries during the spring and summer terms.
The event welcomed approximately 30 students and 24 guests from 11 sponsoring companies and the foundation, providing a valuable opportunity for exchange and engagement. Following opening remarks by Professor Yujin Yaguchi, Director of the Center for Global Education, the first part of the session featured presentations by four student teams (11 students in total), who reported in English on their experiences in the following programs:
1. United States: Harvard / Stanford
2. Timor-Leste: GEfIL Peace Building Field Trip
3. Europe: Sciences Po / TU Wien / TU Berlin
4. United Kingdom: Exeter / LSE / Summer Internship at UCL
In the second part of the session, seven sponsoring companies gave presentations:
- Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation
- East Japan Railway Company
- Nihon M&A Center Inc.
- Nissan Motor Corporation
- Takeda Pharmaceutical Company Limited
- Shionogi & Co., Ltd.
- ABB K.K.
Each company shared insights into their global business activities and the qualities they seek in globally minded talent.
After the presentations, all attendees moved to the foyer for a poster session and networking reception. Students who did not present on stage displayed posters in teams and provided oral explanations of their abroad program experiences. The session encouraged active interaction among students, sponsoring company and foundation representatives, faculty members, and fellow participants.
The session concluded with closing remarks from Mr. Kazuhiro Kaneko, Director of Business Integrity and External Affairs at Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., and Mr. Takatoshi Hayashi, General Manager of Public Institutions Business Office-1 at Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, representing the sponsoring companies.
This year, all 47 participating students received scholarships funded by sponsoring companies and the foundation, allowing them to take part in programs aligned with their individual interests and aspirations. We sincerely thank our sponsors for their continued support and cooperation, which make the GEfIL program possible.
